Chance for Better Scores

From Jean Fawley , a special education teacher at Portage Northern High School in Portage, Michigan:

"I find motivating students to study for tests and quizzes is difficult to do so I've instituted a system to help motivate them and it works well. After a test or quiz is taken and corrected, the students have one night to take it home and get help from parents, books or friends to correct incorrect answers. All newly corrected answers get Ω the point value back. If the new score comes to 80% or higher, students receive a Chance card. The students keep the Chance cards and on the day of final exams, I collect them for a drawing. The winner gets 10% of the total points on the exam awarded as extra credit. It keeps the students working harder for better scores all semester."
